Dear Friends,

I hope this note finds you in good health and spirits. Today, I want to shed some light on one of the most important B vitamins: folate, also known as vitamin B9.

You may already be aware that folate plays a vital role in many body functions, including red blood cell formation, supporting mental and emotional health, aiding in the production of genetic material and helping to keep homocysteine levels in normal range (important for brain and heart health).

However, many folks are not aware that most supplements contain a synthetic form of folate, which is called folic acid. To put folic acid to work and be useful, your body first needs to convert it to 5-methylfolate, which is called the “active folate.”

Here’s the challenge with this… as the years go by, our bodies get less efficient at converting folic acid to the active folate form.

Moreover, approximately 30% to 40% of the population has a genetic variant that hinders this conversion process. If you’re like me and in this group, then folic acid supplements aren’t going to help much.

Regardless, we all have a better alterative now, which is taking the active 5-methylfolate as a supplement. No conversion is needed - it can go right to work, and research is showing it’s far superior to folic acid.

I believe the best source of active folate is the Quatrefolic brand because it’s very pure and of consistently high quality – and is not derived from animal sources (vegan safe). Best of all, it has been shown to be superior to folic acid, especially for helping to keep homocysteine in a normal range.

Incorporating 400mcg of Quatrefolic 5-methylfolate into your daily routine can be effortless with our NatureCity products.

Our TrueB complex provides a plant based approach to B vitamin supplementation, while TrueRecall focuses on cognitive health and focus, both fortified with active B12 and B6 to complement the benefits of active folate.

If you’re not already taking Quatrefolic active folate, upgrade your supplement today!
