Unlock the Power of CoQ10
On this episode of Nature City, we...
Approximately 90% of the CoQ10 your body uses is the active form, which is called ubiquinol. The “oxidized” form of CoQ10 is ubiquinone (it’s the type found in most supplements).
Your body must convert ubiquinone to get the ubiquinol it needs, but this involves a multistep conversion process. After age 30, this conversion process becomes less efficient, and continues to become more challenging as we age.
TrueCoQ10 contains the active CoQ10 as ubiquinol so no conversion is needed – your body can put it right to work. It’s made with the premier source of ubiquinol, Kaneka QH®, which is made using an all-natural yeast fermentation process. The vast majority of the ubiquinol research conducted to date has involved Kaneka-QH®.
Outside the body, ubiquinol is relatively unstable and can easily oxidize into ubiquinone. This challenge is the main reason why ubiquinol wasn’t available for use in supplements until the Kaneka QH® innovation.
To ensure the Kaneka-QH® ubiquinol is still in the active form when you swallow the soft gel, TrueCoQ10 is made with a special stabilization technology to protect it from oxidizing. It works by using another powerful antioxidant, alpha lipoic acid, and two fatty acids that support its protective action.
When CoQ10, either as ubiquinol or ubiquinone, sits in a liquid solution it tends to crystallize into microscopic solid molecules, which makes it harder for our bodies to absorb and use. TrueCoQ10 is made with a patented technology that helps keep the ubiquinol “crystal free” to support absorption of the active CoQ10.
In a published research study, the same ubiquinol formulation you get in TrueCoQ10 was found to be 4.3x better at increasing blood levels of ubiquinol and total CoQ10 than a regular CoQ10 supplement, on average. The participants in this study were middle aged adults taking a single 100mg serving.

View All ReviewsKaneka QH® is the premier source of active CoQ10, which is ubiquinol. Approximately 90% of the CoQ10 your body uses is ubiquinol, not the ubiquinone found in most supplements. Ubiquinol is the “reduced” or antioxidant ready form of CoQ10.
This means that it can instantly stabilize a free radical – and stop its destructive path. On the other hand, ubiquinone is already “oxidized” and needs to be converted back to an antioxidant before it can help.
This multistep conversion process becomes less efficient as we age, which is why we believe adults over age 30 should take CoQ10 supplements as ubiquinol, not ubiquinone.
Kaneka-QH® is made using an all-natural yeast fermentation process. The vast majority of the ubiquinol research conducted to date has involved Kaneka-QH®. Here some of the benefits you may experience from taking CoQ10 as Kaneka-QH®:
CoQH-CF® is designed to support the efficacy of the Kanaka QH ubiquinol by helping to keep it stabilized in the desired active ubiquinol form while in the bottle, and promote ubiquinol absorption in the bloodstream.
Outside the body, ubiquinol is relatively unstable and can easily oxidize into ubiquinone. CoQH-CF® helps protect it from oxidizing by using another powerful antioxidant, alpha lipoic acid, and two fatty acids that support its protective action.
To help support absorption, CoQH-CF® contains a compound from citrus fruit oil that improves ubiquinol solubility.
In general, to bring your CoQ10 levels to an optimal range, the maker of Kaneka QH® recommends you take 200mg of ubiquinol daily for the first two weeks and thereafter 50mg to 100mg daily is typically a good maintenance dose.
If you feel higher amounts help you more, you can continue with an increased dosage. We offer TrueCoQ10 in both 50mg and 100mg serving sizes (1 soft gel is a serving).
You can take TrueCoQ10 any time of the day. When possible, take it together with a meal to help improve absorption.
Yes, TrueCoQ10 is gluten free (less than 20 parts per million).
Some additional details on this for you: the caramel on its own is less has than 20ppm of gluten, and caramel represents less than 1% of the total soft gel product weight.
