Dear Friends,

Did you know that about 50% of our brains are made up of fats? So, if someone calls you a fathead, just tell them it's because you have a big brain!

One type of fat your brain loves is called Phosphatidylserine, or PS for short.  PS is found in most living cells but is especially concentrated in the brain – with up to 6 times more PS in the brain than any other body part!

Here are the two main functions of PS in the brain:

It helps form the physical structure of the brain, and PS plays a key role in cell-to-cell communication.

You can think of PS as a messenger, delivering information across synapses between cells.

Research has shown that PS is involved in important cognitive processes like memory, learning, and attention.

So the next natural question scientists had was… can PS be beneficial as a supplement?

Most of the initial research with PS as a supplement was focused on mature adults – call it age 50 plus.

The first thing researchers found was that PS in a supplement form can cross the protective blood-brain barrier. Your brain is careful about what substances it allows in, so it was good to demonstrate the brain sees PS as something it wants.

Since then, numerous studies have found that supplementing with 100mg-300mg of PS daily for at least 3 months can have significant cognitive health benefits, particularly for memory and recall.

It's important to note that the effects of PS aren’t immediate. Unlike some cognitive boosters that work quickly but briefly, PS takes some time. However, many find the wait worth it because the effects of PS tend to be more sustainable in the long run.

A study in Japan illustrated this beautifully. Participants took either 100mg of PS or a placebo daily for 6 months.

The PS group started experiencing significant benefits in memory and recall after 3 months, and the improvements were even more pronounced after 6 months (the placebo group did not improve).

The participants stopped taking the PS supplements at this point, but remarkably the improvements they experienced were mostly maintained when tested 3 months later (90 days after stopping the supplement).

Whether you're over 50 like me and feeling the effects of aging, a younger adult dealing with stress, or simply looking to improve your focus and cognitive performance, PS might be just what your brain needs.

When choosing a PS supplement, I recommend looking for the Sharp PS brand, which is the best-studied PS ingredient and has excellent safety data.

At NatureCity, our TruePS product uses the Non-GMO sunflower version of Sharp PS, which is great for those avoiding soy products.

However, there’s another important feature of TruePS that’s usually overlooked in other PS supplements.

Like many other fats, PS is relatively unstable and therefore prone to degradation.  In fact, our manufacturer had several PS products tested and found that within 4 or 5 months of manufacturing, the PS had already degraded by 20%.

Lost potency is not something you want, and worse you’d have no idea this is happening.

To overcome this, TruePS is made with a unique stabilization technique – called fluid dispersion – that keeps the PS in TruePS fully stable and potent right through the expiration date on the bottle.

With TruePS, because of this stabilization enhancement you no longer have to guess whether your PS has degraded – and you can use TruePS confidently knowing it still has full potency.

Each TruePS soft gel has 100mg of Sharp PS. When starting TruePS, we recommend taking 3 soft gels a day for the first 4 weeks. After that, 1 soft gel per day is typically adequate for most users.

PS is a very good investment for your brain health and cognitive function. If you have any questions about PS or TruePS, please let us know.

Yours for Good Health,
