Dear Friends,

One of the best supplement ingredients to help your hair is solubilized keratin protein, such as the Cynatine HNS keratin we feature in our TrueHNS supplement (keraGEN-IV is another good ingredient option for solubilized keratin).

In addition to hair, Cynatine HNS helps support the look of skin and nails, hence the HNS in the name.

Recently, we had a customer contact us and say…

“my dermatologist recommended I take a product like this for my hair, and I tried your TrueHNS for the last month, it seems like a good product, but it’s not making a difference. My hair still breaks too easily, and I don’t think less hair is falling out.”

Now the key to what this customer said is she’s only been using the product for a month.

We explained and showed her data from research with Cynatine HNS that illustrates why 30 days is too soon to give up - and if you give TrueHNS 2 or better yet 3 months, it’s very likely you’ll be rewarded.

I thought others also may be curious about how long it takes keratin protein supplements to work, so that’s what we’re going to review today.

Research Findings with Cynatine HNS

To help answer this question, I looked at data from 2 studies with Cynatine HNS. The first included 50 women, and the second study had 100 men and women participants.

Both studies used 500mg of Cynatine HNS as the daily serving (the same amount you get in TrueHNS).

The results of the 2 studies were fairly similar, especially after 90 days (which is good), so we’re going to focus on the results from the larger, more recent study conducted with both men and women.

And to keep this letter from getting too long, I’m just going to focus on the hair results – although there were also impressive findings for skin and nails too.

One of the key benefits of Cynatine HNS for hair is helping to reduce normal hair loss, like you see with washing or brushing your hair.

To evaluate this, researchers use something called the hair pull test. Here’s how this works:

First, participants are instructed to not wash their hair for 3 days before the test to reduce the number of weakened hairs a person may lose.

Then a trained professional, grabs about 60 hairs at a time and gently pulls on them to see how many hairs are extracted. This is repeated 3 times on different parts of the scalp.

At the start of this study, those in the Cynatine HNS group and the placebo group each had about 13 hairs, on average, that were removed. So if the clinicians pulled on about 60 hairs in 3 locations – about 180 hairs in total – about 13 were extracted on average.

They repeated this test 3 more times during the study, after 1 month of taking the supplement, after 2 months and at the end of the 3-month study.

This is important because it helps us see the progression of benefits.

After 1 month, those taking Cynatine HNS improved by about 25% on average, so the hairs removed dropped from 12.9 to 9.8, on average.  A very nice start.

Here’s what’s also important - not everyone responded after just 1 month of taking Cynatine HNS.

The research report defined a “responder” as someone who improved by at least 20%.  Only 64% of the men and women cleared this mark in the first month. So 36% hadn’t responded yet.

Impressive Improvement After 2 Months

By the end of the second month of taking Cynatine HNS, 96% had responded positively in this hair pull test, up from the 64% after one month.

If those folks who hadn’t yet seen significant results after one month had given up, they would have missed out on the improvement.  That’s why you want to give the Cynatine HNS keratin in TrueHNS time to work.

In addition, after month 2, those taking Cynatine HNS had reduced their hair loss by 44%, using this hair pull test (improving from a 25% reduction after 1 month).

These results were maintained in the 3rd month of taking the supplement – and at this point 100% of those taking Cynatine HNS for 90 days had responded positively (had a greater than 20% or better improvement from the start).

You recall at the start of the study that, on average, the group lost 12.9 hairs in this hair pull test. Those taking 500mg of Cynatine HNS daily declined to just 6.9 hairs in the same test after 3 months, a 46% improvement.

This was a 3 times better improvement than those in the placebo group. These results illustrate how patience can be rewarded by sticking with Cynatine HNS.

Hair Strength, Brightness and Shine Also Improved

The researchers also measured hair strength. To do this they use a device called a dynamometer to determine how much force is needed to break a hair.

Again, those taking Cynatine HNS recorded much greater improvements after 90 days than the placebo group, indicating greater structural strength of the hair, which should result in less hair breakage.

Finally, trained clinicians evaluated the brightness and shine of hair. Those taking Cynatine HNS started to experience a significant improvement after 30 days, with results continuing to improve till the end of the 90-day study.

Hopefully, this helps explain why you should put TrueHNS to a true test over 90 days.  You may be fortunate and see a noticeable difference in 30 days, but don’t give up if you don’t respond quickly.

In addition to Cynatine HNS, our TrueHNS product also includes plant-based biotin and silica from bamboo shoots for added support.

Yours for Good Health,
