Dear Friends,

Many of our clients have been affected by the recent hurricanes and we hope you and your loved ones are safe and well.  We were fortunate to avoid a direct hit, but we know many others who weren’t so lucky.

You may have been hearing about the mineral magnesium a lot more recently.  It’s often overlooked but it’s essential to good health - playing a role in over 300 physiological processes in the body.

From muscle function and stress support to maintaining energy levels and promoting healthy bones, heart health and much more, your body depends on getting adequate magnesium.

One challenge with magnesium is it’s hard to detect a deficiency from regular blood tests because only about 1% of the magnesium in your body remains in blood serum (about 59% is in bone and 40% in muscles and soft tissues).

As a result, blood tests are subject to significant short-term variations, that may not reflect the body’s true magnesium level and need.

So how can you tell if you might not be getting enough magnesium? Listen to your body.

If you’re experiencing issues like sleeplessness, muscle cramps, struggling to stay regular or handle stress, low energy, headaches, or if your heart occasionally flutters – it may be a sign you need to increase your magnesium intake.

One thing we know for sure is that according to USDA statistics, about 75% of Americans are falling short of the 400mg recommended daily intake from food.

The reason why is our soil has been depleted of minerals due to over-farming, and the American diet contains many more processed foods, which have a lower mineral content.

That’s why taking a magnesium supplement is a good idea for many folks – however, like with most supplements, the form of magnesium you take matters.

As you may know, at NatureCity we prefer the vitamins and minerals in our supplements to come from plant sources.

However, with magnesium that’s not a practical option because the concentration is too low in available plant or food sources.

One of the advantages of minerals from plants is they are “chelated” and soluble, so we can more easily digest, absorb, and use these nutrients.
So we turned to the next best thing: a form of magnesium that mimics the work plants do.

It’s called magnesium bisglycinate chelate, which is a combination of the magnesium and the glycine amino acid.
In addition to enhanced magnesium absorption, this ingredient offers several other advantages.

First, because it’s fully chelated, you can take it at the same time as calcium without concern about interfering with the absorption of the magnesium or calcium.

Magnesium bisglycinate chelate also offers protection from other dietary substances than can impede absorption and bioavailability, like phytates or phosphates.

Next, the chelate bond is just the right strength.  It’s strong enough to remain intact while being absorbed through the intestines, but once through, it can still be separated into magnesium and glycine – where they both can be put to use quickly (glycine is also valuable in the body).

In addition, you’ll also be happy to know that this form of magnesium won’t upset your stomach or cause gastrointestinal distress (i.e. doesn’t cause loose stools or diarrhea).

We believe the most convenient way to take magnesium bisglycinate chelate is to drink it, which is why we created TrueMagnesium drink powder.

TrueMagnesium has a natural berry flavor and is naturally sweetened with organic stevia. You get 60 servings per canister, and each scoop gives you 200mg of highly absorbable magnesium.

If you want to match the magnesium RDA of 400mg daily, you can take two servings a day. (I like to take one in the morning and one in the evening and think it’s the best way to go).

Don’t come up short on magnesium because it’s essential to how our bodies function. If you’re not already using TrueMagnesium, please give it a try. You may be surprised how it helps you feel and function better!

Yours for Good Health,

Carl Pradelli
