Dear Friends,
You’re likely familiar with the powerful nutritional properties of blueberries, cranberries, blackberries, and some other berries, but have you heard of the Indian gooseberry? It’s also called Amla and is one of the most revered plants used in Ayurveda, the traditional medicine of India. I believe it’s a rising star and will be as familiar to supplement users as turmeric and ashwagandha are today in the next decade.
The unique antioxidant properties of Amla berries can support your health in many ways, but they really shine when it comes to cardiovascular and heart health.
Among Amla extracts, one stands head and shoulders above the rest – it's called Capros, and we love it for three main reasons:
First, it's made with a patented extraction process that concentrates and packs together a large amount of the powerful Amla polyphenols to enhance potency.
Second, it has more scientific support than any other Amla extract we know of, with many valuable benefits for cardiovascular and heart health.
And third, it's very affordable, making its benefits accessible to many.
What makes Amla so powerful and beneficial for our health? Like most botanicals, it starts with polyphenols, which are compounds that typically provide color in plants and have strong antioxidant properties. Tannins are a class of polyphenols, and the Amla plant contains four unique tannin polyphenols:
Emblicanin A, Emblicanin B, Punigluconin, and Pedunculagin. These particular polyphenols are believed to be superior to many others because they don't have any pro-oxidant properties and they have "cascading" antioxidant activity. This means that unlike many antioxidants that run out of power after neutralizing a free radical, the Amla polyphenols in Capros can trigger a chain reaction of additional antioxidant compounds. In other words, the metabolites that are left after neutralizing free radicals continue to have antioxidant properties, helping you fight free radicals even more effectively.
This cascading effect, combined with the lack of pro-oxidant activity, makes Amla particularly potent and valuable to our health.
Capros is superior to other Amla extracts because it contains a minimum of 60% of these powerful Amla polyphenol tannins. This contributes to unrivaled support for heart health, as demonstrated by multiple published scientific studies.
Among these benefits are helping to maintain already-healthy levels of total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL cholesterol, and HDL cholesterol.
Capros may also help you maintain already-healthy levels of C-reactive protein (hsCRP), a key biomarker for inflammation, and promote healthy nitric oxide levels, which supports better blood flow by helping blood vessels relax.
Furthermore, Capros helps protect against oxidative stress by bolstering the body's antioxidant response. As evidence of this, research has shown that taking Capros is associated with lower levels of malondialdehyde (MDA), a marker for oxidative stress, and increased levels of glutathione, a key antioxidant in the blood.

Glutathione is essential for many aspects of healthy aging, and its increase with Capros suggests improved antioxidant status and less oxidative stress.
Most research on Capros has used a daily dose of 500mg, with 1,000mg often providing further support and increased benefits.
We've incorporated the powerful Capros extract into our TrueCapros and TrueBerry7 products.
I encourage you to consider adding Amla, and specifically the Capros extract, to your day!
